Observations made during the field excursions represent a snapshot in time
relative to ancient carbonate plays. Four workshops are typically
completed during the seminar and are designed to help the participant (1)
develop a better understanding of the origin of carbonate complexes, (2) refine
the process of solving exploration and development problems, (3) construct
analogies of Belize modern environments and apply the same to ancient analogs,
and (4) make the transition from a snapshot in time to a four-dimensional
exploration and development play. Although uncommon, in the event weather
restricts field observations, additional workshops are available so that time
and resources are not wasted.

Above, the participants from the 2007 Industry
course are working intensely to solve one of the geological problems
presented in a selected workshop.
The workshops are listed
below. Typically, the last two
workshops are completed only in the event of bad weather.
- Development
of Physical Stratigraphic Framework of Cyclic Shelf Margin Carbonates (Shelf
Margin formed by structure).
- Exploration
for Lodgepole Mounds,
Williston
Basin
(Ramp exploration play).
- Devonian
Reef Exploration,
Central Alberta
(Basin atoll play).
- Exploration
For Pinnacle Reefs,
Michigan
Basin
(Basin pinnacle play).
- Devonian
Reservoir Characterization,
Central Alberta
(Virginia Hills Field).
- Seismic
Delineation of Winnipegosis Pinnacle Reefs (Application of seismic model).
- Cretaceous
Shelf Margin,
Central Texas
(Barrier Reef Play).
