Placencia: On Saturday, and Sunday we will be staying at Laru Beya Hotel, a full service resort located on the Placencia Peninsula in southern Belize. All of the rooms feature ceiling fans, air conditioning and high speed internet access. It is an exclusive, midsize, resort located on seven acres of lush gardens and beach front property on the Placencia Peninsula in southern Belize. The famous air-conditioned restaurant features Caribbean and American dishes prepared fresh daily. Laru Beya, which in the Garifuna language means "on the beach", is ideally located to facilitate all of our needs in Southern Belize.

South Water Caye: Monday and Tuesday nights we will stay at this popular 15 acre palm-fringed caye that sits directly on the barrier reef. What a unique opportunity to stay at such a serene locality. Our group is hosted by the owners of the Pelican Beach Hotel in Dangriga. We are housed in several different types of lodging facilities. There is a dorm area, small bungalow and separate cabanas. Family style meals are provided fresh daily from the kitchen.
Dangriga: Our last evening in the southern portion of Belize will be at The Pelican Beach Hotel which has been in the Bowman family for generations. It has been updated in recent years to add new facilities with air conditioning comfort and is very close to the airport. The family style restaurant is impeccable and it features a beautiful bar/restaurant area complete with an aquarium which makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. They will have all their remodeling done and the hotel will really have a new facelift. It will feature a conference room complete with high speed internet.

Ambergris Caye: For the last three days of the field trip we will be at the Sun Breeze Hotel located right in the middle of the bustling downtown area of San Pedro Town and conveniently located just across the street from San Pedro Airstrip. The highlight of this hotel is the "workshop room" situated on the 2nd story of the hotel where we will be able to enjoy cool breezes as we work on various geological projects. The group will be eating at several different restaurants on the caye that specialize in Belizian cuisine.
